August, 2013

Here are a few pictures from Eric C from a recent trip to the tropics. What follows is the email he attached

These are a few pictures from some of the fishing done during a trip to the US and British Virgin Islands. I was able to fish 2 days. One with a guide, Garfield, for Bonefish on Anegada Island and another day with a small boat captain on St. Thomas which is where the Snook was landed and a tarpon broke off boat side. The landed tarpon was from fishing with a local in Tortola, British Virgin Islands. All the gear I did not have or borrow I obtained from the shop. Having been there before, Terry told me what I could expect in Anegada.

Great Job Eric, and thanks for sharing the pictures.

These next seven photos came to us from our good friend Robin. Robin recently took a trip of a lifetime to Tortola, Russia. To hear him tell the stories of getting picked up in a helicopter each day and flown out to remote places where the fish man not have ever seen a person or fly. Armed with his brand new Winston BIIX spey outfit we set up for him it looks like the trip was a great success. Many of the fish in these pictures were landed on flies tied by shop friend and Salmon fly junkie Frank Swarner. I asked Robin if he would ever do this trip again and without hesitation he replied emphatically...ABSOLUTELY!  Yeah, I probably say that also. Congrats on a good trip Robin and thanks for sharing these pictures with us.

These next three are of a fish called a Quillback.,a member of the Sucker family. These guys can grow to around 26" long and weigh several pounds. They are named a Quillback due to the long filament extending out of the dorsal fin. You can see the filament in the top picture.  One of our good customers John M. got this guy while Shad fishing in Deer Creek. Awesome catch and thanks for sharing it with us.
